Now this is certainly not a top-end model by any means, but the Sportline Solo 900 Heart Rate Monitor Watch will suffice for the average runner. I purchased this product looking for an inexpensive heart rate monitor to help me train at peak levels, and to keep from overexerting myself. At under $30, it's hard to beat.

In addition to the heart rate monitor, this also functions as a basic stopwatch, however there are no lap functions. The watch does not require an uncomfortable chest strap, and is very easy to use when running. You simply hold the button down for a few seconds and it reports your heart rate back in big numbers that are easy to read.

I never really graduated past this watch, as my running abilities increased, I didn't really find the need to watch my heart rate so closely anymore. This is definitely a good tool for those looking to optimize their workouts (you health analysis reports on this site tell you your target heart rate zones).
